About Kevin
From Overcoming Challenges to Building a Life in VillageWalk
I was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare neuromuscular condition that significantly impacts my mobility. Doctors told my parents I wouldn’t live past the age of two, but I’ve spent my entire life proving expectations wrong. Despite my physical limitations, I’ve always focused on independence, determination, and achieving my goals.
At 18 years old, I made the bold decision to move away from home to pursue higher education. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Public Health from the University of Illinois before going on to Washington University School of Law in St. Louis, where I graduated with my Juris Doctorate. Moving away was challenging, but it instilled in me a deep sense of resilience, problem-solving, and adaptability—qualities that have shaped my personal and professional life ever since.

A Career in Law and the Move to Florida
My time in the Midwest shaped my independence and resilience, preparing me for a demanding career in law. After law school, I built my career as a corporate defense attorney in Chicago, spending nearly a decade specializing in employment law and corporate compliance. I handled all aspects of litigation, including depositions, pretrial and trial matters, and even submitted arguments before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. But what I truly enjoyed most was advising companies on workplace policies, risk management, and legal best practices, helping them navigate complex challenges while ensuring compliance with employment laws.
While I thrived in this fast-paced environment, I eventually found myself seeking a more balanced and peaceful lifestyle—one that allowed me to continue my work while also prioritizing my personal well-being and passions.
In 2020, I packed up my life and moved to Florida with no prior connections to the state—just a love for its beautiful weather and relaxing atmosphere. I stumbled upon VillageWalk by chance and quickly fell in love with the community’s serene beauty, strong sense of security, and natural surroundings. I purchased my home that year and have been remodeling and upgrading it ever since—turning it into my personal oasis.
Today, I work remotely as Employment Counsel for Gusto, a technology startup. My role involves providing strategic legal guidance, handling compliance issues, and advising on employment best practices. It’s still a busy role, but a different kind of busy—one that allows me to balance my professional life with my creative passions, home projects, and community engagement.

More Than Just an Attorney
While my professional life has been centered around the legal field, I have many other passions. You might recognize my home as the back-to-back winner of VillageWalk’s Halloween and holiday light competitions—but I’m more than just an attorney and passionate decorator! I’m also an artist, writer, musician, and engaged member of this community.
Over the years, I have been quietly observing how our community operates—attending Zoom board meetings, listening to discussions, and paying attention to the concerns raised by residents. I believe in engaging in meaningful and constructive ways, and after careful thought, I feel that now is the right time for me to step forward. I’m ready to bring my experience, fresh perspective, and thoughtful leadership to the VillageWalk Board of Directors to help ensure our community continues to thrive for years to come.

Why I’m Running for the Board
Village Walk is at an exciting point in its evolution, and I want to be part of ensuring that our community continues to thrive, adapt, and improve for years to come. As our neighborhood matures, new challenges and opportunities will arise, and I believe thoughtful leadership is essential to navigating these changes effectively.
With my legal background, experience in problem-solving and governance, and deep appreciation for this community, I am uniquely positioned to advocate for smart policies, enhance transparency, and contribute to the long-term well-being of VillageWalk. My goal is to listen to residents, evaluate decisions with fairness and logic, and help implement solutions that benefit everyone—not just for today, but for the future.
